I want to become a Betty!!!

So Betty Designs is looking for an ambassador Betty Designs is THE most fashionable active wear I have seen.  I've been around doing triathlons since 2000.  There has never been a more unique brand of athletic clothing in ALL these year than theirs.  Lori Bowden was my hero and she had the most amazing outfits and I honestly wish that the every day girl could have something very cool too!

Yes, I drooled over the sick looking bathing suits all the girls were wearing in Kona for the past few years, they are for a reason....awesome!

Who is Betty?  Well here she is Betty, a fit rock star!
Would I like to look like her..OH YAH!!!  I know just having the opportunity to wear their gear will motivate me to be the best ambassador to them that I can be!

Vote and vote often for me..PLEASE :)

Email them here: kristin[at]brandbetty[dot]com  Tell them Shelley should be there next Betty!!!

Thank ya'll!

How's training going?

Since you asked..LOL.

I'm swimming more, biking more, running..not so much.  I started back the first week in January and just after a tiny amount of running my right knee was killing me.  I finally went to an MD who prescribed an MRI oh you.  Laying in a tiny tube for :45min's wasn't fun.  After a week of waiting the results were thinning cartlidge, scar tissue, inflammation and the start of arthritis.  Why over a month later it still hurts is beyond me.  I started seeing a PT right away 2 x's per week.  We've been working on exercises to strengthen my glutes, hips, etc....he showed me how to tape my knee cap so it doesn't bother me during training.  The method we use is called McConnell taping which works amazingly well.  I have zero pain when we do this.  Today I get to run for the second time this month.  Baby steps.....

I have the hotel and flights booked for San Juan 70.3 and i'm so looking forward to seeing the island.  We'll be staying at the Hilton Caribe which looks pretty decent.  I just hope my training goes well between now and's coming soon!

Sew right

I got a sewing machine for Christmas. I've been a sewing maniac...I love it. My first project!

Thursday, November 1, 2012

It's a no go for me! The place I was staying at has no power, so with such short notice and all the crap going on in NY I deferred my entry until least I got that going for me!

This is why I don't like to TRI

Well I still like triathlon. I am more interested in horse back ridding these days. I want to own my own horse and ride an ride :)

I recently did the RAIN ride. I finished at mile 100 though. My husband was sagging and not in the greatest health. I'm glad I got to participate in at least part of it!

Ironman Aqua Bike

With a lot of brain debate, I decided not to do the whole Ironman Louisville. I will however be doing the swim and bike. It's so close to where I live and the entry fee was paid, I might as well partake in part of problem.! I'm actually going to take care of my coach and her kids this weekend. I'll have fun and go on to have a stellar NYCM....can't wait!

Muncie 37.0?

Muncie was reduced to an olympic distance race. The water was the hardest and hottest i've ever experienced...89 degrees..yah, that's a hot swim. The bike was nice with smooth rollers and lots of drafting..ah hem...cheaters! I thought the run was great and hilly..the volunteers took such good care of us having an aid station every 500', loved them!!! I'm still training for IMLOU. My training has not been going well and I'll have to decide a few weeks from now if i'm actually going through with this whole race. To do so may mean certain failure and injury...i'm thinking this through for a bit.

Super Fun Training Weekend

This weekend we had around 28 people at the tri camp I attended. Friday night we had a run efficiency test around a track, monitoring our HR and time per lap. It was interesting and I found that each lap I did my time decreased and my HR increased..not good. You can bet that monitoring my HR during training will become a major focus for me. We biked in a very windy and hilly course. It was very pretty and who know southern Indiana was sooo hilly! After that we did more running and then we had an underwater taping and analysis of our swimming. That was interesting. Coach says I have a pretty good stroke and just needed to work on more bending of the elbow. My running still sucks..who knew. Even though I'm doing more and more running I'm still pretty darned slow. I just think I will never have the bio-mechanics to run fast. I just "my" pace and that's all I can do. That's okay, I'm never in contention to win anything :)) Sunday we rode out to an area where we practiced our transitions, mounting/dismounting our bikes. This was full on anaerobic since the course was just a 3+ mile bike followed by a 1.5 mile run x 2. It was hot and sunny so that added to the fun too! All in all a pretty good back and legs are sore, but other than that, i'm ready to take on more challenging training.
